Asta Heikkilä

The first twenty years of my career I taught children and trained adults. Now I nurture berry bushes and make wines

I was born and raised in Northern Finland at a small farm so I am used working in agricultural environment. I learned to respect the farming work and home cooking. The changing northern seasons taught me to admire the miracle of growth and development thru the years I was a teacher. I can say that with our berry farm and winery I have returned back to my roots.

My 91 years old mother gave me the wine master-title once she tasted my first batch of red gooseberry wine which I made after I graduated from the excellent wine making course at Lepaa vocational college

Pekka Heikkilä

Our berry farm is well documented in Excel as I am an Engineer. My father was very handy in building and fixing things at our old farm and I learned my skills from him. I have always enjoyed working at our farm on my free time away from my various engineer roles. I enjoy solving problems and this skill has helped me a lot both at work and in my free time. I have also experience in chemistry, but with my ways of working I am better on the field and thus I have happily given Asta the honors to make and develop our wines
